Hinton Nordic Centre - Jackrabbits: Kids Free Ski
Jackrabbits is the Hinton Nordic Centre’s fun and welcoming ski program designed especially for kids. Families are invited to bring children ages 2–10 to try cross-country skiing in a supportive, playful environment. Adults are welcome to join in the fun!
This session is a great introduction to skiing, focused on movement, confidence, and enjoying time outdoors during Winter Magic Festival.
Free equipment rentals will be available throughout the day on a first-come, first-served basis.

Hinton Nordic Centre - Try Biathlon
Curious about biathlon? This beginner-friendly session at the Hinton Nordic Centre offers a safe and exciting introduction to the sport, combining cross-country skiing with target shooting.
No experience is required, and participants will use EcoAim optical rifles, which are quiet, safe, and involve no live ammunition. This hands-on activity is open to ages 8 and up and is a great way to try something new during Winter Magic Festival!

In 2026, the Hinton Nordic Centre celebrates 50 years as a cornerstone of winter recreation in the Hinton Northern Rockies.
Winter Magic Festival
Winter Magic Festival 2026 returns to Hinton from February 6–23, bringing two weeks of winter sports, cultural events, and community celebrations to the Hinton Northern Rockies. Now in its 39th year, the festival showcases the region’s deep connection to winter—highlighted in 2026 by the 50th anniversary of the Hinton Nordic Centre and signature events like the Hinton Growler Fat Bike Endurance Race.

During the Winter Magic Festival, we’re inviting visitors and locals to help tell Hinton’s winter story through photos that capture shared moments, traditions, and winter experiences across Hinton Northern Rockies.

Mysterious Forest Life: Travelling Exhibit
Discover the beauty of nature’s smallest wonders through Mysterious Forest Life, a macro photography exhibit by Sharon Krushel. This family-friendly showcase invites visitors to explore moss, fungi, and lichen from an insect’s-eye view. Open daily during museum hours and included with general admission.
Growler Race
The Hinton Growler, presented by the Hinton Mountain Bike Association, is an annual fat bike endurance race held during the Winter Magic Festival in February 2025.
